What kind of content can I submit?
Who gets in the magazine? Does my content submission guarantee exposure?
How do I get a profile in the TRIBE section?
What if I’m not the business owner?
What’s the catch? Can it really be free?
If being in the magazine is free, why would I advertise?
What if I’m not a great writer?
Is it only about B2B companies?

The winter call for content form includes space for news briefs, DO articles, Special Qs, event save the dates, and a special place to nominate a nonprofit for inclusion in the next issue.
It depends on how many responses we get to fill our limited amount of space. So it’s not a guarantee, but we are cheering for you! Only our email subscribers receive the call for content, and we work intentionally to show a diverse selection of businesses in the magazine. We want to provide valuable, thought-provoking, and entertaining information to small business owners. Answering all of our questions increases your chances and gives us more flexibility with our selections. Authenticity, personality, creativity, and relevance also play a big part in the decision.
We select people for the TRIBE section based on the issue’s theme. These individuals might be people we already know, or they might be people who caught our attention with their interesting and engaging submissions for other areas of the magazine. In the first issue, many of the people selected were part of our direct network. Start with who you know. And now we want to know more people!
Even if you aren’t the business owner, you can still submit news about the company and event save the dates. And you can work with the owner to submit Special Qs and DO articles in the business owner’s name. It all goes back to promoting the business.
Yes, it really can. We are not a pay-to-play media outlet. Advertising in the magazine costs money. Having content does not. The two are unrelated. If you spot someone in the magazine who also has an ad, it is coincidental
We’re all about exposure for your personal and business brand, but we’ll edit hard pitches right out of the content. If you want to push sales-oriented calls-to-action, then paid advertising is the best place for that.
Don’t worry. We’re great editors! We’ll correct any grammar or spelling errors and get in touch with you if we like what you’re saying but have recommendations for rewording. We also know a lot of amazing freelance writers who can help you if you aren’t comfortable writing your own material. Just email me if you’re interested in references.
b2bTRIBE is about small business owners talking to other smalls business owners, the TRIBE. So companies that provide business-to-business products and services certainly qualify. But even companies that provide business-to-consumer products and services have business owners as consumers, and we want to hear that part of their story. How do you make business owners’ lives easier, more productive, or more profitable? Do any of your products or services appeal particularly to businesses or business owners? Some examples might be a restaurant with event space, a health and wellness practice with concierge service, or a gift shop with personal shopper services.
