As the founder of Telecom Made Simple, LLC, Christine Mason is a voice and data specialist who represents over eighty different telecommunications providers. She meets with prospective clients to learn about their voice and data needs both during the startup phase of their companies and as they grow or change locations.
In late 2015, she was experiencing exponential growth when she got a call that would change her life forever. It was from Palmetto Health, a hospital in Columbia, South Carolina, with news that her husband, a tractor-trailer driver, was being airlifted to its emergency room after sustaining multiple injuries from an accident on the job.
Thankfully, he survived the crash, but the healing process has been a long and challenging road for the whole family. Even to this day, he goes to physical therapy four times a week and requires a lot of attention and care. His accident required Christine to place the focus she had on growing the business to simply maintaining her book of business. And because she had created strong connections to her clients, her efforts were rewarded.
The best advice Christine can offer to other business owners is to spend time and energy developing strong and genuine relationships with customers. Be willing to spend time educating your clients, even if it costs you the quick sale. Doing the right thing for their business is ultimately the right thing for your business if you are really in it for the long haul. “If you have a relationship with your customers and you always do the right thing, your business is going to soar. And I just know that mine is going to keep growing.”
