Kim McClintock: Location. Location. Location

Kim McClintock, McClintock HVACThe location-location mantra seems to work well for McClintock Heating and Cooling in Matthews. Owners Rob and Kim McClintock will soon celebrate fifteen years at that location, providing HVAC services to clients from the east side to the west and points in between.

“I love the small-town feel and that the business community here seems to really pull for one another,” said Kim. “The Matthews Chamber of Commerce is one of the best chambers around.”

The company offers replacements, repairs, installations, and maintenance for heating and cooling systems. Rob, a Charlotte native, has more than thirty years of experience in the HVAC and electrical fields. Kim, a longtime newspaper advertising executive, handles the accounting, marketing, and public relations aspects of their business.

Together they have two adult children, volunteer on various community boards, and are involved in the community including the local YMCA. They support local high school sports and enjoy the area’s restaurants. They’re especially big fans of Mario’s Pizza and John’s Place off Weddington Road and give a big shout-out to downtown Matthews’ Carolina Beer Temple.

Navigating traffic from one side of town to the other can be problematic as infrastructure needs improvement, Kim noted. But the location can’t be beat with access to I-485, Independence Blvd., and Union County, where they have a big bulk of their customer base.

They have thirty-eight employees, and responsibility for keeping those families working is a hefty chore—all the more reason they enjoy the area. It’s safe, and the amenities around their office make McClintock a very decent place to work.

Yes, small businesses are a lot of responsibility, Kim acknowledges. But she’s got no regret with their adventure. “Hands down—it’s the best move we ever made.”
